For Election Day 2024, transportation companies including Uber, Lyft and Lime are offering ways to get to a voting location with either a half-hour discount, or in the case of Lime, two free rides.
Uber and Lyft are both offering 50% discounts on rides Tuesday. For Uber, a "Go vote!" option will be available in the app at half price for up to $10. In addition, Uber says it will offer 25% discounts nationwide as people go to election watch parties. Lyft's promo is also for 50% off, up to $10, with the promo code VOTE24. This code works as well for scooters and bikes from Lyft and for vehicle rideshares.
In past elections, both companies have offered discounted and free rides to the polls, in some cases in partnership with nonprofits to help disadvantaged citizens get to their voting location.
Lime, meanwhile, is making its scooters and bikes free on Tuesday with the promo code VOTE2024, which enables two 30-minute rides to get to and from a voting site. Two other scooter companies, Bird and Spin, are also offering free rides with the promo ROCKTHEVOTE2024 in areas they serve.
Hertz is doing a free day of car rental with the code 211636, but it requires customers to do two days of paid car rental.
And in some cities across the country, public transportation services are offering free bus or light rail rides to the polls. Check your local public transportation if you're interested in catching a free bus to vote.
