California-based electric vehicle startup Lucid Motors on Tuesday announced pricing for its upcoming luxury SUV and, as expected, it’s pricey. The 2025 Lucid Gravity Grand Touring will start at $94,900 when reservations open for the battery-powered three-row next week. Too rich for your blood? Patient shoppers can wait for the less expensive, but still steep, $79,900 Touring model that will follow in late 2025.
Lucid’s luxury EVs are far from what I’d call “affordable,” but in its defense, you get a lot of car and technology for the money. The Gravity will share its DNA with an impressive stable of sedans, including the longest-ranging EV you can buy today and the most energy-efficient -- the 512-mile Air Grand Touring sedan and the Air Pure's 5.0 miles per kilowatt-hour, respectively. The upcoming SUV should stand on tall shoulders.
The Gravity will be Lucid’s more spacious second act. With around 120 cubic feet of cargo capacity split between its cabin and underhood frunk, the EV will play in the very popular and highly competitive seven-seat/three-row SUV segment. The automaker expects the Gravity Grand Touring to boast "more than 800 horsepower" with range surpassing 440 miles pending final validation and approval from the Environmental Protection Agency. Those numbers line up with the Air Grand Touring full-size sedan, and using that sedan as our template, we can expect that the Gravity Touring spec that follows should scale back slightly on creature comforts, cruising range and total power (likely landing closer to 600 hp) to hit its more affordable price.
Hopefully, that also means we’ll eventually get an even more accessible Gravity Pure model thereafter (or, at the other end of the spectrum, an extremely quick Sapphire), but today's announcement doesn’t look so far into the future.
The sweet trailer is, sadly, not included.
Lucid MotorsIt’s CNET’s policy to include destination charges when discussing or comparing new vehicle prices, since the fee is requisite and unavoidable. However, Lucid has not yet announced the Gravity’s destination charge, so prices are stated here without it. Once again using the Air sedan as our yardstick, you should factor an additional $1,500 to the bottom line come time to take delivery.
Reservations for the 2025 Lucid Gravity Grand Touring open next week on Nov. 7 at 9 a.m. PT (12 p.m. ET) on Lucid’s website, starting at $94,900. The first examples are expected to begin arriving in the coming months of “late 2024.” Once production has ramped up, orders for the $79,900 Touring spec will follow with a late 2025 delivery window.
